Kozhikode
Kozhikode also known as Calicut. Calicut is located in southern India between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea, has drawn visitors since antiquity. It is also known by its Indian name Kozhikode.
Phoenicians, Arabs, and Chinese were all drawn to its coasts by the spice trade. Vasco da Gama paved the path for the Dutch, French, and eventually the English when he landed on its shores in 1498. Calicut was renowned as the ‘City of Spices’ because it was a significant commercial hub for eastern spices.
